My name is Calum Bellis and I am currently a student at DMU studying computer games art. I feel I should start by mentioning I have never written a blog before so this is yet another new experience for me. In fact this past month has been filled with new and exciting experiences.
Over the next three years I will be using this blog as a space to document my progress on the course as well as other miscellaneous posts. Anyway, a little bit more about myself. I come from a small village outside of Bristol called Iron Acton and have lived their for the majority of my life so moving to the center of Leicester has been one of the biggest changes recently, I find it quite refreshing how every convenience I could want is a 5 to 10 minute walk away from where I am staying rather than a 20 minute car journey away.
I am still undecided as to whether I like my current blog title as it sounds a little bleak, however it is a nod to the fact that this is the third year I have applied to the computer games art course and the first year I was made an offer ! It was quite disheartening getting rejected from the course the previous years but I turned the rejection into fuel to better myself in order to achieve what I really wanted; a place on the most popular games art course in the country, and what I believe is the best course to help me get a job in the games industry as as 3D artist.
I aim to post updates of my work on here more regularly in the future so watch this space.
