After going back to the drawing board last week I have settled upon a duo for my dichotomy; the traveling companions.
As we only have to model one of the duo, I decided to model the old lady. I chose her because she is not your typical game character. I would like to model something outside of my comfort zone. She is far from able bodied, so she probably wouldn't be very fun to play as anyway. However I can imagine she would make for an interesting NPC. Perfect for giving out quests in an RPG.
I have spent the majority of my time modeling the old lady's face.
Over and over and over again. I really want to get this part of the character right. Most of her will be covered up in drapery, so I need to squeeze as much character out of the face as possible.
I want to portray an elderly weathered traveler, with deep set wrinkles and leathery skin.
I created another page on Pinterest to aid me, there is so much to reference there ! Elderly wrinkled faces make for great portrait photos so there is a lot of content to choose from as reference.
I must have started over again modeling this face about 5 or 6 times already this week. Unfortunately most of the times I had to restart were rage quits without saving. or just fits of mashing the delete button, I am finding this increasingly frustrating, So I don't actually have much to show for my efforts this week in terms of iterations.
I think I have something I can work with now though, that just leaves a week to catch up with the rest of my character, I cant hand in just a face.
