Week 23
This week I really feel like I've made some progress on the
Zelda level
So after a lot of testing, I finally have a modular system
down that allows me to create a level with some resemblance to the original
visualisation.

It’s a pretty bad screenshot but the resemblance is there.
After looking more at the way the artists in Skyrim had done
it before, I changed tactics from making whole “rooms” that connected, to
creating the building blocks for the “room” itself. This allows much more
control.
I started with a corner piece, a wall piece, gate within the
walls, and some bridge pieces, as well as the steps over the wall seen here

I decided to add in some inverted corner pieces as well.
They aren't in the original design but they could come in handy to create more
variation if the design is to be added too in the future.
Here is a breakdown of all the pieces I have made so far.

I have had to make quite a few “hero pieces” to get the same
layout as the in the visualisation. “Hero parts” is a term used to designate
parts of a kit that will most likely only be used once, the temptation is to
spend a lot of time on these hero pieces to make them look good. In reality
time is much more worthwhile spent on the non-hero pieces, as they will be used
over and over again, any flaws in those pieces will be much more readily
noticed.
Such as the floor piece with a whole, and the parts that
create the shallow pond.
